PicoSure is the most advanced laser treatment available for safe and effective tattoo removal. PicoSure is able to target unwanted ink more effectively than ever before and is able to remove difficult ink colors as well as previously treated tattoos. Fewer treatments, improved recovery time, and faster results are achievable with PicoSure's groundbreaking technology.
PicoSure is the only picosecond (that's one trillionth of a second, or 0.000000000001 seconds!) laser currently approved by the FDA for the removal of tattoos and brown spots.
How it works
PicoSure works by delivering an extra-short burst of energy into the skin, targeting the large ink molecule of your tattoo or brown spot which sits just below the skin. This energy breaks apart the large molecules of ink into fine, dust-like particles that are easy for the body to target & eliminate. By blasting apart the ink molecules into such small, easily eliminated particles, PicoSure is able to remove tattoos more effectivelyand with fewer sessions. Individual results and experience may vary.
What to expect
Laser treatments of any kind are certainly not comfortable. Some people describe the experience as similar to a rubber band snapping on the skin. Most patients agree that laser treatments are no more uncomfortable than getting their tattoo in the first place.
It is common to experience blistering and scabbing after treatment with the PicoSure laser. The skin that was treated will then flake off naturally. Less common reactions include bleeding, bruising, and hyper- or hypo pigmentation (skin darkening or lightening), which typically resolves within six to twelve months. Individual results and experience may vary.
The providers at Chao Plastic Surgery are specially trained in the use of the PicoSure laser and will customize your treatment parameters to minimize the risk of adverse side effects. We may recommend treating a test spot to see how your skin responds to laser treatment.
