Depending on the degree of skin laxity, you may need anywhere from a "mini" to a "full" face lift. The incision will be made within the hairline above the ear, it will extend around the earlobe and back towards the hairline behind and below the ear. The skin and muscles will be tightened and lifted, excess skin will be removed and the incisions will be closed with sutures.
You may experience bruising, swelling, and pain after a facelift. The pain can be controlled with oral pain medication. After a facelift, patients will go home with dressings wrapped around the head and neck. There may be small drains left in place which typically stay in for up to one week. Sutures will be removed at the two week mark. Final results are typically seen within 4-6 weeks with continued improvement for several months. Individual results and experience may vary.
A face and/or neck lift is a surgical procedure intended to created a a more youthful and rested appearing face or neck as well as create a more desirable facial shape and appearance.
If you experience signs or symptoms including loose or sagging skin on the face or neck, jowls or deep creases on the face, a "double chin," sunken cheek pads, or just simply a tired appearing face, you should consider a face or neck lift.
